Synaptide Home is a small online homewares shop. We sell the ordinary, well-made things a kitchen and a table actually use every day: stoneware mugs and plates, mouth-blown glass, oiled hardwood tools, cast-iron cookware, and washed-linen napkins, runners and aprons. Nothing here is a novelty, and nothing is designed to be replaced next season.

Why we keep it small

Most homewares are sold as a mood — a styled counter, a soft-focus morning, a promise about the life you’ll lead once you own the mug. We think that gets it backwards. A mug is a mug: it should sit well in the hand, hold its heat, survive the dishwasher, and still be here in ten years. So we keep the range deliberately small, choose materials that wear in rather than out, and describe each piece specifically enough that you can actually decide from the page.

How we photograph it

Every object on this site is shown the way a shelf holds it — in profile, on a single line, at true scale, on a plain warm-grey ground. No lifestyle scene to see past, no prop doing the selling. You see the shape, the material and the measurements, and you decide whether it belongs in your house. A 9-centimetre tumbler looks shorter than a 24-centimetre pitcher because it is, and the photograph says so.

The materials we return to

We work with a short list of honest materials and finish them the way they should be finished. High-fired stoneware, vitrified so it holds heat and shrugs off chips, in matte oatmeal and iron-speckled glazes. Borosilicate and pressed glass, thin where it should be and free of seams you can feel. Cherry, beech and walnut finished in hard wax oil so they can be re-oiled at home rather than thrown away. And stonewashed European flax linen, which arrives soft and only gets softer.

We ship across the United States from a single fulfilment point, usually within two to five business days, and we stand behind everything we sell with a 30-day return on unused items.
